CIO Africa Summit Called in Kenya

African CIOs called to discuss Government IT spending

Africa is catching up and learning from the mistakes of the developing nations. With investment in Africa seeing significant growth throughout 2009 and it set to continue into 2010, an emergency meeting has been called between some of the leading CIOs on the continent to discuss planned Government Spending and investments into 2010.

Run by GDS International the summit aptly named CIO Africa is being held in Nairobi, Kenya chaired by IT leaders such as Kevin Kinyanjui, CIO Kenya Airways, Benson Akpati, CIO Oceanic Bank, Suleiman Yusuf, CFO Intercontinental Bank and Dr Tony Githuku, CIO, Kenya Commercial Bank who have already confirmed their attendance.

China and India have led the way with technological advancement, but Africa is catching up learning from the mistakes of the developing nations. Building Africa’s infrastructure is a challenge but will create growth and opportunity across several industries throughout the continent, building for a profitable 2010.
